How long does the machine take to warm up?

Thanks to its Boosted Boiler technology, Espresso Series 1 is ready to brew espresso or steam milk in under 2 minutes. Once the machine is fully heated, switching between pulling a shot and steaming milk is almost instant.

Can you pull back-to-back shots?

Yes. Espresso Series 1 is designed to handle consecutive shots. After extended use without a break, the machine may briefly pause to recover, but this is uncommon in normal home use.

Can Espresso Series 1 pull a shot and steam milk at the same time?

Espresso Series 1 is technically a single-boiler machine, so it can’t brew and steam simultaneously. However, thanks to its Boosted Boiler system, moving from brewing to steaming only takes a few seconds once the machine is warmed up (which will happen in under 2 minutes).

Is Espresso Series 1 single or dual-boiler espresso machine?

While Espresso Series 1 is classed as a single-boiler machine, its performance goes beyond what you’d typically expect. The Boosted Boiler system delivers excellent temperature stability with a heat-up time of under 2 minutes.

What is Boosted Boiler, and how does it set Espresso Series 1 apart?

Boosted Boiler is a heating system designed to deliver consistent temperature and flow without long warm-up times.

It works by coordinating three independently controlled heating elements:

  • A low thermal mass heater
  • A compact boiler
  • An independently heated grouphead

This setup allows water to reach the coffee at the correct temperature and flow rate throughout the entire shot. The result is café-level thermal stability, faster heat-up, and greater control during extraction, without the long wait times associated with large commercial boilers.

What is pressure profiling? Why is it important?

Unlike traditional espresso machines that apply a fixed 9-bar pressure, Espresso Series 1 uses pressure profiling to adjust pressure throughout the shot.

The shot begins with a gentle pre-infusion at around 3 bars to evenly saturate the coffee bed. Pressure then increases during extraction before gradually reducing toward the end of the shot. This helps improve flavour clarity, reduce channelling, and avoid over-extraction.

What settings are customisable?

Profiles: Temperature, duration, pressure, flow rate (pre-infusion only), transition timing

Milk Steaming: Target temp and presets by milk type

Water: Volume and temperature

What is intelligent shot feedback, and how does it work?

We know that espresso isn’t always smooth sailing! Intelligent shot feedback helps guide you when dialling in espresso. If a shot runs too quickly or too slowly, the machine provides suggestions - such as adjusting your grind size to help improve results.

What is assisted steaming, and how does it work?

Assisted steaming is designed to make milk texturing easier and more consistent.

The temperature-sensing steam wand:

  • Automatically stops at your chosen temperature
  • Purges itself after use
  • Can be customised for different milk types

In guided mode, the machine recommends the correct milk volume and steams to the ideal temperature based on the selected milk type.

Is Espresso Series 1’s steaming wand insulated?

Yes! The steam wand is insulated for safer handling and easier cleaning, as milk is less likely to bake onto the surface. After extended use (around four or more steaming cycles), the wand may become hot - we recommend handling the upper section only.

Are the water tank and internal components BPA and PFAS-free?

Yes, all water-contact components are BPA and PFAS-free.

Can you switch out the external wraps?

Sadly, not! Changing the external wraps would require removing more than 25 screws, so they are not designed to be interchangeable.

What are the shortcut vs drink modes on Series 1?

Shortcut Mode: allows you to jump straight into pulling a shot, steaming milk, or dispensing hot water. The simplicity and convenience are like any other machine you may be familiar with.

Drink Mode: guides you step by step through making your favourite drink, from espresso to milk steaming.

What is a profile?

A profile is a recipe for how your shot is pulled, where you can dial in every detail, from pressure to temperature, to flow. Choose from preset espresso profiles, tailored to your roast, and save your unique espresso profiles for future use. You can even replicate shots from commercial machines!

Does Espresso Series 1 feature a cup warmer?

Espresso Series 1 doesn’t include a traditional cup warmer. The silicone pad on top provides a practical place to store cups and also conceals a small compartment for cleaning supplies.

Does the Espresso Series 1 have a dedicated hot water spout, or do you use the group head?

Yes, there is a discreet hot water spout built beneath the group head, allowing you to dispense hot water at your chosen temperature and volume - ideal for Americano's or tea.
